In January this year, Nationwide asked students across the UK to come up with a short film idea designed to teach young people about the importance of saving money. The winning idea came from Saint Catherine’s College in Armagh in Northern Ireland for ‘Coinsequences’, the curious tale of a kitten saving up to buy a pet elephant.

Nationwide Education and the Transformation Trust education charity have launched Saving the Day –a fun hidden object game about saving and budgeting, aimed at 11-16 year olds. Follow six different characters facing financial conundrums. The only way to help them and to complete each level is to successfully balance their wealth, health, happiness and time, by making lifestyle decisions for them – and by avoiding disaster!

The STABILO EASYstart materials will equip teachers to teach handwriting in a fun, interesting and engaging way.
Children need to develop their basic writing skills and discover written language in a fun and creative way. With the EASYstart Writing Box they will acquire the fundamental understanding of how to write letters in a way that inspires their curiosity but is also based on the scientific development of fine motor skills.

Following a highly competitive tender process, we have won a £3.5 million contract with Transport for London. The contract, to lead a digital road safety campaign designed for pre-school children in the Greater London area, is for a minimum of three years, potentially extending for a further three.

Exciting new resources have been added to the multi-media tool kit, ‘Wise Up’, on behalf of Sanofi Pasteur MSD. The new STI (Sexually Transmitted Infections) materials, which include film, prezi slideshows and rap, help students understand STIs and how they can protect themselves against them; avoiding risky behaviour.

The films were developed to support the launch of FlexOne, Nationwide’s first current account aimed at young people. FlexOne is more than just a current account; it provides a range of competitive benefits to suit the lifestyles of young people aged 11 to 17 while also helping to educate them about money.

The UK wide education Portal, developed by us, provides comprehensive multi-platform STEM themed content and is supported by an Employee Engagement Programme.

‘Share Good Times not Flu’ is the message we are helping to communicate in schools on behalf of AstraZeneca, makers of the nasal spray flu vaccine used in the national immunisation programme. Whilst the concept of flu vaccination is not new, a nasal spray, administered to children, in school may be a novel concept for staff and many pupils. The proactive campaign supports and complements public health messaging about the UK flu vaccination programme amongst school staff, parents and the wider community.

The Wise up to HPV materials are supported by SAPHNA (The School and Public Health Nurse Association) and highlight both the social reasons for the vaccine and the protection it can provide to young women.

‘The Force Factor’ includes an engaging interactive which presents pupils with a number of everyday scenarios and encourages them to explore what forces are acting and in which direction.

Fit to drink! is an exciting new resource for primary schools that looks at why we need water to stay fit and healthy. Developed for Thames Water, it features an exclusive film with Olympic gold medallist rower Andy Triggs-Hodge MBE, who talks about the importance of drinking water for his fitness.

Welcome to the Club! During the past six months we are pleased to have welcomed additional national supporters to The Children’s Club. The Club has now been established in Cambridge County Council and Norfolk County Council.
Parents and their three year old children living in these areas are being provided with free membership when they join the Club. It is encouraging to see the Club being well recognised and implemented in many areas of the UK as part of local authority's preschool road safety intervention strategies.

Nationwide Building Society has teamed up with The Transformation Trust and experienced teachers to launch 'Rock Club'. Pupils are invited to plan their own rock concert and be in the running to win tickets to the Rock Assembly at Wembley in July.
As the gig promoter, they will need to apply their maths to a range of scenarios including using data to decide on which acts to invite, managing a budget, designing stage layouts and lighting, estimating quantities for catering and deciding on the most successful running order.

Carex has been helping children learn the importance of good hand washing habits for over 10 years, and more than 1.4 million pupils have used the Carex Hands Up for Hygiene education materials.
To celebrate the 10th anniversary, Carex have launched new and updated resources and have teamed up with Guinness World Records in an attempt to break the record for the Largest Baking Lesson (Multiple Venues) – the Carex Bake Off Challenge.

Reckitt Benckiser, owners of Clearasil, together with Ten Alps Communicate have developed 'Clear Confidence' a set of free online and hard copy teaching materials written and developed in collaboration with educationalists. The resource helps teachers support teens to understand the link between positive self-esteem, feeling and looking good and taking care of themselves.
